Counter Strike, And The Beginning of Broad Band PC Gaming
Which team are you on, Terrorist or Counter Terrorist?We have entered the world of the 21st century, the century of technologies - the information age. Every thing is faster every second. And as far as the Computers and games are concerned, they are at the top of It all. Every one loves playing games and some of them do nothing else.Well, a few years ago, PC gaming was not very advanced. A game was usually single user based and if any one wanted to play with another player you needed an extra input or compatible playing device. An exciting era of new technological games began with the entrance of Network gaming or Multiplayer gaming which revolutionized the PC gaming world. The advantage of multiplayer gaming was the simplicity. From now on, if one person wanted to play a certain game with any other person, all that needed to be done was to connect to the other person's computer using a broad band internet connection. Before the wide spread access of Broad Band, games were played through dial-up Modems. This was acceptable as long as the games were not too heavily packed with data being sent and forth. However, over the years, games became more complex and a faster connection was needed. THE SWITCH TO BROADBAND: Today, multiplayer games send and receive more data and therefore need faster protocol for sending and receiving data streams. Amongst those first multiplayer games demanding better conective resources was COUNTER STRIKE. Thanks to broad band technology like DSL and Cable Modem PC gaming has become very advanced and high quality games can be played at a very high speeds. Counter Strike is A very popular multiplayer game using Broad Band Connection. THE GAME: This popular game is a modification of Half-Life, a science fiction, first-person, shooter computer game developed by Valve Software. Counter Strike is a FPS (First Person Shooter) type game and is totally action packed. Gamers are divided into two teams:ns The Terrorist Forces and The Counter Terrorist Forces. The game is played on various Maps displaying different locations and objectives. According to these Maps, the Counter Terrorists and the Terrorist Forces must perfomr various tasks: Assassinations/Escapes, Take Hostages/Rescues and diffuse bombs, etc. WEAPONS AND OTHER EQUIPMENTS: Weapons armors and other equipment are very important parts of the game. There is a wide variety of different equipment to employ such as night vision, hand grenades and many pistols and other guns. Players have to buy this hardware. In order to pay for ammo and other equipment, a player must got to the shopping cart area and have funds in his account. There are a lot of small and big, simple and advanced equipment available in Counter Strike, but pistols and submachine guns are the main features of the game. Each Weapon is different from other, providing a realistic touch to the game. Money management is a critical element of the game. Knowing which equipment to buy can be key to sruvival. Purchasing a particular piece of equipment or weapon and using at the right time, can take the player to the top of the game. PLAYING THE GAME: There are two teams, ie, Counter Terrorists and Terrorists. The player has the option of joining either one of the team (being a good guy or a bad guy). A playing area is created on a server, usually by the "host," and every player must join that server in order to play the game. The Counter Terrorist team must eliminate the Terrorists completely or fulfill the map objectives. At the same time the Terrorist forces are trying to completely destroy the Counter Terrorists. Different Maps have different challenges and strategies for each team. When a player dies, he is unable to continue playing until the current round ends. But during that time, the player enters a spectator mode, and is free to roam around the map and check out all the remaining actions. CONCLUSION: Counter Strike is an exciting and evolving game that began at the start of the broad band PC gaming. It has helped to revolutionize the PC gaming world.
